Christy Clavio is a holistic health-care practitioner focusing on mind-body therapies to educate and empower people in their wellness recovery. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS), and a trained mediator. She provides individual and group therapy to children, adolescents, adults, and families with mental/behavioral health needs, addictions, and trauma.
Christy has a diverse clinical background that has included: trauma-focused cognitive behavioral treatment with children, adolescents, and families referred by the Departments of Social Services and Juvenile Justice; school-based therapy with children; working in a recovery center with adults diagnosed with severe mental health challenges, psychosis, bi-polar and substance use disorders; and providing integrative therapies to adults with specific needs concerning chronic pain, depression, anxiety, trauma, sleep difficulties, and addiction recovery.
Christy uses strength-based approaches to help align thoughts, feelings, and actions for the highest good and empowerment of oneself. She helps individuals learn to have more control and improve the quality of their lives. She has extensive clinical training in trauma informed care, mind-body counseling, addiction recovery, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), mindfulness, expressive arts/music therapy, play therapy, relaxation/meditation techniques, yoga, and qi gong.
Christy has a Masters degree in Social Work (MSW). She is certified as a Natural Therapeutic Specialist (NTS) and is licensed in therapeutic massage and bodywork (LMBT). She teaches continuing education courses for licensed professionals, including Healing Trauma in the Body and Sound Therapy. Christy is highly skilled in practicing with sensitivity, compassion, and creativity.
